CDFI is engaged in Developing and implementing means for disseminating accurate and complete information regarding the nature and cause of structural and related failures in projects involving civil engineering and other disciplines. Coordinate and assist in the dissemination of forensic engineering information generated by other organizations, both within and outside ASCE. Advise and assist the Architecture and Engineering Performance Information Center (AEPIC) with their efforts to disseminate information. Act as the primary liaison between AEPIC and ASCE.

Missions

We recognize that failure information exists that has been withheld or inexpediently released to the public, and that errors have reoccurred. The committee seeks to:

facilitate dissemination of failure information, such as by developing standardized protocols.

create opportunities for dissemination, such as databases and conferences.

conduct dissemination for the ultimate benefit of the public, such as presentations at conferences.

We develop repositories, seminars, audio-visual productions, conference sessions, journals, and books. Our current emphasis is in two areas:

the use of the Internet for dissemination of failure information.

producing travelling slide shows to be presented at local chapters of professional societies throughout the United States.
